Due to the immediate threat of Hurricane Dennis, and based on reports from the Meteorological Office and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), it may not be possible for the Bank of Jamaica to open  for business today, Thursday, 07 July 2005.

 

With regard to foreign currency trading, the weighted average exchange rate derived from trading on Wednesday, 06 July 2005, will be the applicable exchange rate for Customs and GCT purposes for Thursday and Friday, 07 and 08 July  2005, respectively.Foreign currency transactions reported after 3 00 p.m. on Wednesday, 06 July 2005 will be incorported in exchange rate calculations for the next business day.

 

With regard to foreign exchange reporting on eGate,transactions posted after 3 00 p.m. on Wednesday, 06 July 2005 will form part of the next business day's computations.

 

The Bank will continue to monitor the reports and advisories from relevant government agencies and will advise the public as to the date when it will resume normal business activity.
